The most important part of building a team is to make sure that all employees are aligned with your company’s core values.
Building a company is like a puzzle. You need all the pieces in the right places to complete your vision. That includes a cohesive team. However, determining the right people for the right positions is challenging.
And so in this article, we’ll discuss the People Analyzer Tool which provides direction on making the decision to hire easier. Let’s dive into what People Analyzer Tool has to offer.
What is People Analyzer?
First, let’s start off with everything there is to know about this handy system. It’s a visual tool within the Entrepreneurial Operational System; second of six components within EOS. It’s all about getting the correct people who share the company’s core values.
Should those people not fit with the culture, there’s an easy way to find out. Using People Analyzer, write your employees’ names on the left side. Along the top, write your core values.
Using one of three symbols, this is how you’ll rate them:
- + means the employee demonstrates this core value most of the time
- +/- means the employee demonstrates this core value some of the time
- – means the employee doesn’t demonstrate this core value
Team members should be able to adopt your core values. If not, it’s worth considering nixing one or more if a handful of people aren’t exhibiting them. That helps you streamline your business’ principles so it’s a better fit for new and existing employees.
It’s imperative to have employees exemplify your core values. If they don’t, it doesn’t mean they’re bad people. It simply means they’re not the right fit. For your business to grow, you need the best team—and that requires everyone to be on the same page, no matter their seniority level.
3 Reasons Why You Need the Right People
There are many reasons why you need to hire the right people on your team. Most of these reasons are obvious for the veteran entrepreneur. However, I’ve heard from many starting business owners how they find it hard to stabilize and scale their company – the root cause? Their own team.
With that, here are 3 main reasons why building a cohesive team is one of the first steps of building your company.
#1 Your team will make your vision a reality.
It matters who’s on that rocket ship with you. Yes, they need to have the necessary skills to make your vision come true to life. But, it’s not always a good idea to hire the “best of the best” – why? Because for one, if you’re still on the starting ground of your business, you may not afford to bring on the best on the field. It’s best to look at your cash flow and find someone who you can afford. Get someone who has the right skills but is willing to learn with you. Having someone who fits your core values and believes in your vision will have no problem investing on themselves to learn the necessary skills that will help the business to grow.
#2 Your team influences each other
Everyone on your team influences each other along with how your clients perceive you, how your clients are treated and how your company grows. When everyone is aligned on the team with regard to working toward the same goals, your business will be unstoppable. Plus, your company core values will transcend not only within your company culture, but to your prospects and clients as well.
#3 The right team will strive more for the success of the company
A team that knows the value of their work and the position in your team, will influence each other to strive better for the company. They will value the impact of Performance Improvement Plans and will take into account its points for improvement. The right people know that there is a big goal to achieve, and once achieved, will be compensated and recognized accordingly.
Your employees are the people you’re spending most of your time with. It’s obvious that the team has to be aligned and work well together. But remember that company culture comes from the top (you) and it’s your responsibility to ensure the people you bring on your company’s path embodies your core values.
Use People Analyzer to Build a Cohesive Team
To take the guessing out of which team members follow your company’s core values, use the People Analyzer tool within the EOS system. It’ll put your vision into action, propelling forward to success, not failure.
